Cruelty and Pain
The
world is cruel, it is true,
But not as cruel as the people in it:
Myself included.
If I keep my distance there is less chance of pain
So that is what I shall do.
"Better to have loved and lost"?
Better not to have loved at all.
All things must end: love, friendship,
And the ending will be cruel.
Better to keep a distance
And never feel the pain.
